VVTA Mobility Management

Mobility Management

VVTA Mobility is the program that connects the community with destinations of opportunity. This program is robust and serves the transportation needs of all members of the High Desert community. VVTA Mobility is the program that connects the community with destinations of opportunity.

What Is Mobility?

Mobility is a relatively new program that is designed to meet the transportation needs of a diverse group of people in the High Desert and outer areas of San Bernardino County. Since 2015 the staff at VVTA and CTSA have been identifying areas within the community and outer areas that are most in need of public transportation and transportation designed to meet the needs of non-traditional bus riders.

Travel Training

Become a successful, independent traveler. Set at your own pace. Each training program is individually tailored to your needs and abilities, enabling you to plan trips, ride specific routes, and understand route maps and schedules.

Transit Orientation

A complimentary trip for special needs classes or Assisted Living Homes. The trip includes a presentation to introduce the group to public transportation, covering such topics as fare media, conduct, and schedules.

CarShare

To improve mobility in rural areas, the Mobility Management Program kicked off a pilot Carshare Program in Needles, CA in August 2016. Cars are placed in strategic locations in the city to allow residents who need access to services, not available within the city, to access these services. Examples of service include medical appointments, shopping, and other local area trips that can't be completed using public transportation.

Transit Training Certification

Assist your clients and students to become independent travelers. Mobility offers a special course for professionals to receive a Travel Trainer Certificate and a special bus pass that enables Travel Trainers to ride free when with their trainees.

Retired Vehicle Program

VVTA provides retired vehicles to area Social Service Organizations. The benefit is that the organizations are using these vehicles to improve transportation options for their clients and help the community.

TRIP

TRIP is a self-directed mileage reimbursement transportation service that complements public transportation. TRIP works by encouraging friends and neighbors to transport older adults, people with disabilities and others to medical services, shopping, family visits and for other purposes where no transit service exists or when individuals are unable to use public transportation.

Transit Ambassadors

Are you retired and looking for something to do in your spare time? Do you have a desire to help others in the community who are non-drivers and may find themselves feeling isolated, largely because they feel their transportation options are limited? Consider becoming a Transit Ambassador. The Transit Ambassador Program is a volunteer program to provide fixed route riders an orientation to VVTA bus services. Some people, especially seniors or people with disabilities may feel intimidated by using public transportation. As a Transit Ambassador, you will have the opportunity to introduce a non-driver to the freedom of travel that they thought they’d lost or never had in the first place. With so many VVTA fixed routes, travel to doctors’ offices, stores, school, church and family are accessible and affordable. As a Travel Trainer, you are also given a pass for training purposes and personal use, for as long as you are with the program..
